For as long as I can remember, travel has always been a massive part of my life. Both my parents worked for British Airways so I certainly took advantage of the benefits which came along with that! But it wasn’t until my early twenties, that I developed a passion for exploring new places. Whilst working full time in London, I would make it my mission to ensure that each valuable day was spent outside of the UK. In 2019, I finally bit the bullet and set up this travel blog under a different name. I enjoy reading other peoples genuine experiences and hoped I could add value to others as well.

When I was younger I mostly went on camping trips in the UK, and occasionally enjoyed holidays in popular spots in Europe. It wasn’t until I met Kimberley that I started to develop a more serious love for all things travel. After a few years of agency life, I started my videography business. As well as loving what I do, I am fortunate enough to say that this work has taken me all over the world; Vegas, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi to name a few. There’s a lot more of the world I want to see, so when that window of opportunity presented itself at the tail end of my twenties, it felt right to take it.

Our Story

We became friends as teenagers and have been together for 10 years and counting. During our twenties, we were working full time and travelling somewhere new at every given opportunity. Due to Kimberley’s work, this meant packing as much in as possible in her annual leave allowance.

In 2019, we started the initial conversations that this lifestyle wasn’t working for us and we wanted to travel more. We were reaching our thirties and as the people around us started to settle down, we knew that we had to get the ‘travel bug’ out of our system. We never did the ‘gap year’ thing post school/university, but decided the time for that was now.

Then the pandemic hit, and all of our original plans went out the window. As we are sure many can relate, we felt as though our lives had been put on hold for 2 years.

So what’s next for us?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder; after a period of closed borders and a pretty dark time for everyone, we have never wanted to travel more than we do right now.

Life is short and you never know what’s round the corner. So what better time to travel than to do it during a pandemic?!

We formulated a plan during lockdown, saved up enough money to travel full time for an initial 6 months and put everything we owned into storage. We rebranded Kimberley’s blog to make it a joint venture, and this is when Flying into Thirty was born!

We set off on our crazy adventure in November 2021, and cannot wait to see where the world takes us!
